Do you remember the last time you decide to follow your passion?
Many people don’t do what they love. They either fear about other’s opinion or they don’t have confidence in their gift. I wish that’s not your situation my friend.
The truth is when you decide to follow your dreams there will be people ready to pull you down. It’s sad that people tend to project their limitation to others. And if you let that happens, chance you will never achieve your success.
Following your dream is a big responsibility. Then having to deal with naysayers make it harder. They like to convince you:
“Oh you’ll never make any money doing that!”
“You would better keep that as a hobby and get a real job that pays the bills”
“Shouldn’t you be a bit more realistic?”
How to handle their critics?
Remember they are simply telling you what they believe about themselves. It’s all about THEM – not you.
So if they tell you they don’t believe that following your dream is possible – this is just what they believe for themselves, not you.
They’re projecting their own beliefs onto you.
The best way to deal with negative people is to believe in yourself, to trust your gut and listen the little voice in your head that keep telling you: Try another time.
Every successful people experience haters in their journey. Your best answer is to ignore them.
Follow below advice that will help you keep going no matter what:
- You can’t please all the people all the time
There’s a time in your journey where you have to stand for yourself. Many people will let you down just because you give your life a new direction. Accept that and follow your dream. Along the way you will meet new people willing to lift you up.
- If you know WHO YOU ARE then the comments won’t affect you
Know yourself, know your strength, and believe in your power to control your mind. It doesn’t matter what anyone else says to you. These people don’t know you – so who are they to judge you?
- Be proud of your enemies
Winston Churchill once said: “You have enemies? Good, that means you have stood up for something, sometime in your life.”
It’s true right?
If people disagree with what you’re doing then it just means that you have had the courage to do something that has real meaning in your life! And you can use the naysayers to drive you forwards. And your best answer is to achieve massive success by focus on what you’re doing and do it to the best of your ability!
As Mahatma Gandhi says: “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”
It’s so true.
So if you’re at the beginning of YOUR journey towards building your dreams, I just want you to be ready for a few haters along the way.
It means you’re in the right place.
See them as a rights of passage almost – know that they are there to remind you that what you’re doing is admirable.
And more than anything, never lose sight of who you really are. Only YOU know that – never, NEVER let anyone else try to tell you who you are and what your intentions are.
Stay true to your dreams, keep on going one day at a time, and eventually you’ll cross over the line and suddenly people will be clambering all over you asking you how you did it.
Trust me, it’s the truth.
